Brief Profile of Bihar Grid Company Limited:
Bihar Grid Company Limited(hereinafter referred to as ‘the Company’ or ‘BGCL’) is a 50:50 Joint Venture of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited, the concerned Shareholders’ Agreement signed between the parties dated 29th Dec., 2012. The Company was incorporated / registered in the state of Bihar on 04th January, 2013 with its Registered Office at 2nd Floor, Alankar Place, Boring Road, Patna. It entered into the Implementation and Transmission Service Agreement with Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited on 05th January, 2013 for Intra-State Transmission Projects in the state of Bihar.
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.having 50% share-holding in BGCL, is a “Maharatna” PSU of Govt. of India, in which the Central Govt. holds majority of shares. Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited, the holder of the rest of 50% of the shares of BGCL is 100% owned by Govt. of Bihar and is the main holding company engaged in power generation, transmission and distribution in the state of Bihar.
Section 68 letter was issued by Energy Dept., Govt. of Bihar to BGCL on 03/11/2014 for Phase-IV, Part-I Works and on 07/02/2017 for Part-II Works. The main business of BGCL is to develop an integrated and efficient Intra-state power transmission system network by constructing, operatingand maintenance of Intra-state transmission lines, sub-stations, bay augmentation works etc.in accordance with the policies, guidelines and objectives laid down by the Government from time to time.
